Local Teams Raise over $50,000 at the Weekend to End Breast Cancer

For immediate Release – June 10, 2009

Kemptville, ON, June 10, 2009 - The Kemptville District Hospital Foundation would like to congratulate the three local teams 'The Country Boobkins', 'These Boobs are Made for Walking' and 'The Health Centre Bust Buddies' who participated in the 2009 edition of The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Together, these three teams raised over $50,000 in the fight against breast and other women's cancers. Each of the local teams surpassed their original individual fundraising goals, with 'The Country Boobkins' raising an incredible $30,509 and finishing in the Top 10 for team fundraising.

Held annually, the Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a 2-day, 60km walk to support the fight against breast and other women's cancers. This year's event, held June 6-7 in Ottawa, included approximately 1,000 walkers and raised over $2 million.

The Kemptville District Hospital Foundation would also like to thank the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation for allowing these special teams to designate their funds back to Kemptville District Hospital (KDH). Funds raised will be used towards the $1 million funding requirement for KDH's new mammography suite, part of the much anticipated redevelopment project at KDH.
