KDH Foundation hosts first Corporate Golf Tournament
For immediate Release - Monday, September 28, 2009
Kemptville, ON. September 28, 2009: Despite a soggy start, over 130 golfers teed off at the 1st annual Kemptville District Hospital Foundation Corporate Golf Tournament on September 23rd. Hosted at the beautiful eQuinelle Golf Course just days after the back nine were opened to the public, the Tournament attracted members of the local community, as well as many of KDH’s suppliers and vendors from across the province.
Local celebrities also joined in the fun, with Mark Papousek from Y101, Ian Mendes from Sportsnet and Lee Versage from the Team 1200 teeing up for the cause.
Even with a lightening delay in the morning and heavy rain just as the golfing was coming to an end, Andy Pinhey, KDH’s Director of Financial Services admitted that his foursome, which included Versage, went back to hit another few holes after completing their first 18, simply because it was such a great course to play on.
KDH Foundation Director Linda Bell thanked all golfers for participating and reminded everyone that all funds raised from the Tournament go to support equipment purchases at the Hospital. She also thanked the Tournament’s sponsors, which included eQuinelle Golf Course, Scotiabank Group, ZW Group, Kemptville Truck Centre, IDS and Royal Lepage Gale Real Estate.
KDH Foundation Vice-president, Dermid O’Farrell of O’Farrell Financial announced the Tournament winners, which was the foursome that included David Aitken, Peter Greer, Richard Greer and Mark McDonald. For their 13 under par completion, they won free passes to the next KDH Corporate Golf Tournament. For being Closest to the Pin, Mark Papousek and Cheryl Tataryn each won passes to next year’s Tournament, courtesy of Crain & Schooley. The Putting Competition, sponsored by Scotiabank Group, was won by Peter Valdstyn.
Kemptville’s John Kennedy of John Kennedy Surveyors was the lucky winner of the 50/50 drawing and graciously donated his winnings back to the Hospital.
Golfers also had the opportunity to bid on items through both silent and live auctions, which raised almost $6000. Harry Pratt of Royal LePage Gale Real Estate served as auctioneer. Andrew Cinnamon of Parkview Homes was the lucky bidder on a leather Toronto Maple
Leafs recliner, donated by Kemptville Home Centre while KDH’s Director of Patient Services and Integration, Catherine Van Vliet won the opportunity to turn on the lights at Niagara Falls, which was arranged by Tim and Dawn Sutton.
All funds raised by the tournament will go towards much needed equipment purchases for the Hospital.
