Gifts from the Heart

Our donors are at the "heart" of what makes us a true community hospital. With this in mind, the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation has an ideal way to remember a loved one, recognize an outstanding health care professional at KDH or leave your own lasting mark.

This project is an attractive and highly visible 27-foot by 24-foot granite heart-shaped design located on the front lawn of the hospital.

Gifts of $1,000 will be recognized through an engraved stone within the heart. Your gift to the Foundation is tax deductible. The border of the heart is formed from 40 large black granite stones, which can also be specially engraved in recognition of a gift of $2,000.

This permanent donor tribute will accommodate over 660 stones. Each stone, engraved with the inscription of the donor's choice, is 7 ¾ by 11 ¾ inches.

Planned Giving

Most people would like to be remembered for contributing to the life of their community. It is possible to arrange your financial affairs so that you can take care of the needs of your family as well as make a lasting contribution to the Kemptville District Hospital. Planned Giving is a creative approach which benefits you and the charity of your choice. The following are some of the most common types of planned charitable gifts:

Bequests

Your Will provides you with the opportunity to leave a lump sum or percentage of your estate to the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation. Naming the Foundation ensures the values and interests that are most dear to you continue to flourish after you are gone. A receipt will be issued to offset estate taxes and taxes arising from capital gains.

Gifts of Property

A donation of property can create a gift of exceptional importance. The current value of the property will qualify as a donation for tax purposes. You can also donate property through your Will.

Life Insurance

You can take out a life insurance policy with Kemptville District Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary. You pay a small annual premium, but your eventual gift is significant. Tax receipts are issued for all premiums paid. You can also donate an existing policy that is no longer needed and receive an immediate tax receipt for the current cash value of the policy.

Endowment Funds

An endowment fund is an irrevocable donation that provides income in perpetuity and can be restricted to fund a specific purpose. Endowment funds are a permanently restricted net asset, the principal of which is protected and the income from which may be reinvested or spent depending on the donor's wishes.

Who can help me arrange a gift?

Kemptville District Hospital Foundation staff would be pleased to provide you with information on gift planning and can advise on where your gift might have the greatest impact. If you work with a professional adviser such as a financial planner, lawyer, accountant, trust officer or insurance agent, please talk with him or her about leaving a gift. A professional advisor can tell you about the tax benefits of making a planned gift. This can ensure that you will derive the maximum legal advantages allowed for your gift.
