September 17th, 2009: Building Healthier Communities on the Agenda at KDH
Kemptville District Hospital's CEO Colin Goodfellow will be the first person to tell you that KDH is in the business of building healthier communities, something the educators of the Diabetes Clinic take to heart. Not content to only offer sessions on diabetes education, they have expanded this year's programming to include sessions on hypertension and heart disease.

June 16th, 2009: Ground Breaking Ceremony
After a wait of 15 years, construction has begun on the redevelopment project at the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH). The official ground-breaking ceremony took place on May 29th and was attended by over 200 dignitaries, board members, donors, staff, community members and friends of the Hospital.

August 27th, 2008: New fundraising challenges for KDH Foundation
Kemptville District Hospital's Lean on Me Capital Campaign raised $5 million and it's in safe hands, according to KDH Foundation Chair Tom Mesman, but there is more to do. At the Foundation's AGM June 26, it was reported approximately $3.3 million was held for the expansion, in a portfolio of guaranteed investments.
August 22nd, 2008: New Director of Nursing arrives at KDH
Barbara Savage, Kemptville District Hospital's new Director of Nursing, is ready for just about anything. She has seen much of the world, first through the eyes of a military child, then working at Ottawa General Hospital's ER and recently as Director of Critical Care for the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia An 850 bed hospital with 63 different nationalities, open exclusively to members of the Royal Family.
August 20th, 2008: Facelift Latest Procedure at Kemptville District Hospital
Some flowers, a fresh coat of paint, new flags and a couple good signs have made a small but meaningful difference outside Kemptville District Hospital. Recently, the Foundation recruited a young student volunteer to transform the soil around its Gift from the Heart Memorial. Courtney Vivarais, a student at Cornwall Collegiate Vocation School, had spent several weeks of her summer volunteering with Laurie LaPorte-Piticco, Physiotherapist Assistant at KDH.
August 1st, 2008: KDH narrowly avoids closure of ER
Community-minded physicians stepped forward to fill urgent vacancies in the ER this week, so Kemptville District Hospital could remain open for emergencies. Hospitals across Ontario are at continual risk of not having physicians for shifts over the summer. A 'perfect storm' of summer vacations, family commitments and province-wide doctor shortages brought that risk home to Kemptville District this week.
July 10th, 2008: Kemptville District Hospital Attracts New Funding
Kemptville District Hospital is attracting funding even as provincial budgets tighten up, reported CEO Colin Goodfellow at the Hospital's Annual General Meeting June 26. The Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), the body which funds area hospitals, awarded Kemptville special one-time funding and an increase in base funding to recognize growth.
July 4th, 2008: Full Roster of Physicians at KDH Health Centre
There are now enough physicians to ensure that no patient should be without a doctor in our community, according to Dr. Lawrence Schnurr, Chief of Staff at Kemptville District Hospital.
June 26th, 2008: Champlain LINH CEO Singles Out Kemptville Collaboration
Kemptville was singled out for praise during a recent CBC Radio "Ottawa Morning" interview with Dr Robert Cushman, CEO of the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). The topic of the interview was Ageing at Home and Ontario's Seniors' Care Strategy.
June 24th, 2008: Staff Raise $16,800 at Fifth Annual Golf Classic
In a rare show of support, clouds parted over the rolling hills of Nationview Golf Course Saturday for the Kemptville District Hospital Golf Classic. A volunteer committee of staff organized this fifth annual event and raised $16,800 to purchase equipment, including a new and advanced blood pressure machine.

A man in Kansas narrowly escaped death last week, according to local media, when his nail-gun accidentally discharged a 2.5 inch nail through the top of his skull.
June 2nd, 2008: Kemptville benefits from changed hospital capital funding policy.
As construction of the Kemptville District Hospital draws nearer the actual magnitude of the redevelopment is becoming clear. "As I speak with people about the Hospital almost doubling in size and the project being $21 plus million, there is a recognition that the community has really achieved something wonderful," said CEO Colin Goodfellow.
