Our community is growing fast and there has never been a more critical time for the role that KDH holds and why your support has never been more important. This year alone our equipment needs total well over $1 million and the current budget can only be stretched to cover $600,000. There’s a clear gap between the current funding and our needs. In order to keep pace with demand our OR Department must purchase more than $700,000 of equipment. We’re doing more and more surgeries and require the additional tools so we can reduce the wait time between sessions effectively helping more patients get off the waiting lists.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department plays a key role in patient care by providing information to physicians that help to diagnose and treat illness. That department requires $375,000 for equipment. The needs are great for a CR Reader and Bone Densitometry Reader. The CR Reader will be used with our PACS system and replaces conventional
x-ray film with a computer generated digital image. The digital image is easier to store, retrieve and transmit. The Bone Densitometry reader will allow the diagnosis of osteoporosis earlier so that treatment can be started with the goal of avoiding fractures.

The ER Department has identified the need for multiple IV pumps that will be used to deliver life saving medications accurately and safely. That’s just one piece of equipment. The equipment needs for this department total more than $80,000.

Some of this new equipment will be transferred to the new building when completed but much of it will be used to upgrade the current facility.
