The Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Auxiliary has donated $65,000 to KDH to enhance patient care at the busy North Grenville, Ontario hospital.

The Auxiliary has chosen to have their donation go toward the purchase of pain pumps for palliative patients, a new endoscope for the OR, equipment to help monitor carbon dioxide levels for patients in the ER, and an ice machine to provide pain relief for knee replacement patients. The gifts were announced on April 3rd, 2017 by the Auxiliary’s President, Connie Parsons.

“We are deeply grateful to each and every one of our Auxiliary members for all that they do to make our hospital a better place for our patients,” said Frank J. Vassallo, KDH’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our volunteers make a difference at KDH every day.”

The Auxiliary’s President Connie Parsons presents their annual donation to CEO Frank Vassallo.

To date, the Auxiliary has contributed well over $1 Million through proceeds from its Gift Shop and Coffee Bar, its annual Hey Day fundraiser, quilt raffles, donations to the KDH Auxiliary Tribute Fund, and other fundraising efforts. Past donations have funded state-of-the-art equipment and supported hospital services in various departments, including Emergency, the Surgical Units, and the Mammography Suite. The Auxiliary also funds annual bursaries for local high school graduates studying for healthcare careers.

Connie Parsons was elected President of the Auxiliary in the fall of 2016, bringing an abundance of energy and enthusiasm to the organization, which has been providing volunteers and raising funds for KDH since 1959, before the hospital doors even opened.

Ms. Parsons presented the $65,000 cheque to Frank Vassallo on April 3rd, 2017 in front of the Auxiliary’s bustling Coffee Bar and Gift Shop. “It has been an honour for all of us to work with the awesome team at KDH,” she declared. “We are proud to support their efforts to provide high quality, patient-centred care to everyone in the communities that KDH serves.”

“I also want to thank the members of our communities for their ongoing generosity,” Ms. Parsons added. “Hey Day, our major annual fundraiser, will be held June 9th and 10th this year, and we look forward to seeing the usual crowds supporting our efforts on behalf of KDH!”
