Shoppers Drug Mart® Reaps Funds for KDH

Kemptville, Ontario December 10, 2009 – Thanks to the generosity of Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees in Kemptville, more than $3,962 has been raised through this year’s Tree of Life™ fundraising campaign for Kemptville District Hospital Foundation.

Over 1,150 Shoppers Drug Mart / Pharmaprix stores across the country participated in the eighth annual Tree of Life campaign benefiting over 300 local women’s health initiatives. Since its inception, the campaign has raised over $11 million which has been directed towards improving the quality of life for Canadians.

In Kemptville, the $3,962 raised by local Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees at two stores will benefit the KDH Foundation and will be designated towards the purchase of mammography equipment.  “We are so pleased to be the recipient of the local Tree of Life Campaign.   I would like to thank Pharmacist/Owner Jamie Temple, manager Jolene Moore, who was the Tree of Life Captain in Kemptville and the rest of the Shoppers Drug Mart team, who really championed the cause this year.  We’ll be adding mammography services and the Ontario Breast Screening Program in the next year to our Hospital and this donation is a great show of support from the local community”, said Linda Bell, Director of the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation.

“The success of this year’s campaign has been made possible by the support and commitment of our customers and staff,” said Jamie Temple.  “Shoppers Drug Mart is dedicated to supporting women’s health initiatives at national, regional and local levels, in order to provide women access to health care resources, services and education to improve their whole health.   We are pleased to present this year’s Tree of Life™ campaign proceeds to Kemptville District Hospital Foundation, to be used towards the new mammography suite”.

In the last two years alone, almost $7,000 has been raised in the local community for the KDH Foundation through the generosity of Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees during the Tree of Life™ campaign.
