Bridgadoon celebrates 20 years in business by raising funds for the KDH Foundation
Kemptville, ON, January 14, 2010 – In early January, the Brigadoon Restaurant in Oxford Mills celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting two cocktail parties to benefit the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation.
Owner Cheryl Mackie sponsored all refreshments while her staff volunteered their time, which ensured that 100% of ticket sales were donated to the Foundation. Over $2,000 was raised for equipment purchases at the Hospital!
The day kicked off with about 50 people attending the lunch-time cocktail party including Dermid O’Farrell, Vice-President of the KDH Foundation and his wife Donna Lee. Linda Bell, Director of the Foundation, was on hand to thank Cheryl and her staff and to remind everyone how important community support is to the Hospital. “As we enter into our 50th year, donations from local residents, service clubs and businesses such as the Brigadoon help us in our efforts to raise funds for equipment purchases at KDH. We don’t receive government funding for equipment – and equipment constantly wears out, needs updating or upgrading. Support from our local community is vital and we are grateful for it. Today’s events are a great way to celebrate the Brigadoon’s success while also supporting the community”.
Over 70 people were in attendance for the evening cocktail. Dr. Greg Leonard, KDH’s Chief of Staff, who attended with his wife Lillian, took the opportunity to congratulate Cheryl on 20 years of successful business and thanked her for generous support on behalf of the Kemptville District Hospital and the KDH Foundation just before Cheryl was surprised with a bouquet and plaque from her granddaughter Stephanie McGuire and the rest of the staff.
Cheryl was pleased to be able to celebrate the occasion with her mother, who was visiting from England.
