Colin Goodfellow to join KDH as new Chief Executive Officer

Kemptville District Hospital Board Chairman Ken Mews today announced the appointment of the hospital's Chief Executive Officer.

Colin Goodfellow will assume the position March 29, taking over from Executive Director Lynne Budgell, who retires March 31 after 20 years at KDH.

"Kemptville District Hospital is delighted to have found a worthy successor for our excellent current director; a young, dynamic and visionary executive who will serve this community well," said Ken Mews, Chairman of the KDH Board of Directors.

Mr. Goodfellow comes to Kemptville from Ottawa, where he moved in 1998 to take a leadership role in the creation of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Prior to 1998, he was Vice-President and Director of Strategic Operations at Toronto East General Hospital. Mr. Goodfellow brings 10 years of hospital leadership experience to his new position. During his work at Toronto East General Hospital, he led the creation of Ontario's first integrated health delivery organization, which was used as a model for the local health integration networks about to be implemented across the province.

"Colin was selected from a large group of highly qualified candidates," said Mr. Mews. "He brings a wealth of experience not only in hands-on hospital administration, but in the latest developments in integrated health care delivery."

"The hospital has an excellent reputation for patient care and at the same time it's part of a dynamic community," said Mr. Goodfellow.

Among his top priorities, the new executive director lists the redevelopment of the hospital's emergency department, and the need to ensure that the resources and services of KDH are providing the quality of care that the community has come to expect.

"It's clear to me that the hospital benefits from a committed and focussed leadership at the board level," Mr. Goodfellow added. "It's an exciting opportunity as KDH is exactly the kind of hospital that the future of health care in Ontario is being designed for."
