Legion Branch 212 Makes Donation to KDH

Kemptville, ON, July 16, 2007 – Mr. Carol St. Germain and his colleagues from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 212 recently presented a cheque to the Kemptville District Hospital’s Day Surgery Outpatient Clinic Team Leader, Julie Summers for $6,410. “I am happy to see this money will be used to replace older equipment with the latest technology and help people in our community,” said Mr. St. Germain.

The funds have already been put to good use through the purchase a new blood pressure monitor for the Operating Recovery Room and a cystoscope for the Operating Suite. A cystoscope is a thin tube with a light and eyepiece attached to it. The tube has optic fibers inside it. Through the eyepiece, a physician can see down the optic fibers and into the inside of a patient’s bladder.

The two most recent equipment acquisitions are part of the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation’s mandate to raise funds for new equipment in the Emergency, Operating and Diagnostic Imaging Departments. This year alone the equipment needs total well over $1 million and the current budget can only be stretched to cover $600,000. There’s a clear gap between the current funding and the needs. The Royal Canadian Legion is one organization that has stepped forward to help to close that gap.
