Hospital and Foundation appoint new board members
At its recent annual general meeting, Kemptville District Hospital appointed three new members to its board of directors and welcomed a new chairman.
Dale Kirkpatrick took over June 23 as chairman from Ken Mews, who completed a three-year term. Appointed as new directors were: Sean Kelly, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Al Warren.
Mr. Kirkpatrick has been a 10th grade teacher for the last 6 years. Prior to that he was a Controller of a local company where he worked for 13 years. He is married to Kathy and together they have three children, two at university and one in grade 11. Mr. Kirkpatrick has been a member of the hospital board since 2000. Prior to serving on the board, he spent nine years as a member of a local church board as well as a Scouts Canada leader for six years.
Sean Kelly has been a Kemptville resident for nine years, and resides in Kettle Creek with his wife and two sons. He has degrees in commerce (University of Ottawa) and law (University of Western Ontario), and currently focuses his legal practice primarily in the areas of wills and estates administration at the Ottawa and Kemptville offices of Burke-Robertson. He formerly served on the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau of Ottawa-Carleton.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau hails from Sturgeon Falls on the northern shores of Lake Nipissing, and moved from Ottawa to Kemptville with wife Barbara in 1992. He has a daughter in grade one. Mr. Rousseau graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1980 and obtained his CGA designation in 1986. He works for CBC as a senior financial analyst, and has played an active role in the community as a volunteer for St. John's United Church.
Al Warren is vice-president of Crain & Schooley Insurance Brokers. He has worked for 28 years in the insurance industry. Mr. Warren specializes in employee benefit programs, investment planning and estate planning for the many clients of Crain and Schooley. He has served on the board of directors of the Ottawa Lung Association and on the board of the United Way of Ottawa Carleton.
At the annual general meeting of the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation, also held June 23, a new director was appointed to the foundation board. Tom Mesman is a retired Scotiabanker with over 40 years of banking experience including several senior appointments, most recently Vice President and Manager of the Ottawa Commercial Banking Centre and Main Branch. A resident of Merrickville, Mr. Mesman is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and holds a Canadian Securities Diploma. Tom and his wife Ardele have lived in Merrickville for three years.
