ER Golf Classic Raises $20,000 for the Kemptville District Hospital
Kemptville, ON, June 25, 2007 – This year close to a
hundred golfers took part in the 4th Annual ER Golf Classic on
June 23rd. Nationview Golf Course was the perfect setting as the
day kicked off at 10:00 am with registration, introductions and
a few warm-up rounds on the putting green .
With the beautiful weather in great supply it wasn’t until about
4:00 pm that event volunteers started to receive participants
who had finished their game and were eager to bid on the wide
array of auction items donated by local businesses. Still others
were coaxed to the putting green to try their hand at winning a
golf prize pack before the steak dinner was served.
The entire event raised just over $20,000 and will support the
$50,000 ER Nurses pledge commitment for the redevelopment of the
Hospital. That put the nurses a full year ahead of their pledge
goal. Trudy Arnaud, one of the volunteers from the organizing
committee, said of the event, “I was overwhelmed by everyone’s
generosity. I’m so happy we made our commitment in four years.”
With more than 38,000 square feet of new space, the
redevelopment of the hospital will offer a dramatically improved
functionality and increased efficiency and comfort for the
patients and staff. The new construction will also enable the
hospital to acquire the latest technology and equipment for the
Emergency, Operating and Diagnostic Departments. Construction is
set to begin in spring 2008.
