Kemptville, ON, November 28, 2007 – “Moments that Matter” is the latest CD from Aaron Lines and about sums up the sentiment that nearly 200 guests felt last Saturday evening at the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation’s Fundraising Soirée. The evening raised nearly $60,000 and reaffirmed the important work the hospital is doing.

Following dinner Ms. Suzanne Dobson shared her inspirational story with the audience. It was just a year ago that she was unable to pursue her passion to play volleyball due to an injury. Her doctor knew of the good work that was being done with the orthopedic program at the Kemptville District Hospital and referred her for consultation and surgery. She was in such pain and certainly never imagined it would be possible to have the surgery and recover in time to be on the court for this year’s volleyball season.  In fact, she started her speech with an apology for being a bit late. Both she and her husband were at a volleyball tournament earlier in the day. She went on to say that staff at the hospital made all the difference. “It was the same nurse who greeted me when I arrived and later escorted me to the OR. She was also there to see me when I woke up after the surgery,” said Dobson. “That makes a big difference. The staff is so considerate and made me feel comfortable.”

The evening didn’t end following dinner. At 9:00 pm guests made their way to the theatre for a concert featuring county music singing star Aaron Lines. It was an intimate setting and the perfect venue for what Aaron referred to as a big “kitchen party”. There were numerous highlights throughout the show. Not long after starting Aaron asked if anyone in the room had ever been divorced. He went on to say that he wrote a song with a few of his friends in Florida to show the humorous side of what can be a difficult time. He was worried about the theme and played it first for his wife, mother and sister. He figured if they liked it then others might as well. It turns out It Would Have Been Cheaper to Keep Her is now a huge hit across North America.

During intermission guests had a last opportunity to bid on one of the more than thirty silent auction items. “The selection was incredible”, said one guest. “There is everything here from a four wheeler, to concert tickets, to wine packages. It’s great.”

After intermission Aaron returned to the stage to finish the second half of the show. He shared a new song about the upcoming birth of his first child in December and later brought the house to tears with a rendition of his latest single Somebody’s Son. A song he dedicated that evening to the memory of Private Blake Williamson, a soldier from North Grenville killed in Afghanistan.

The evening wrapped up with thunderous applause that encouraged two encores from the band. Soirée Chair person Marilyn Seymour then returned to the stage to offer her sincere thanks to everyone.
