Analysis shows: KDH Lab gets results!
The results are in. The Kemptville District Hospital Laboratory has been awarded a full five-year accreditation.
The award from the Quality Management Program - Laboratory Services of the Ontario Medical Association follows an on-site visit by an accreditation team in April which resulted in a score of 99.39 per cent. The results show "this laboratory has fulfilled the requirements for quality and competency," said Laboratory Manager Patti Boyd.
The lab met all the requirements specified in the Quality Management Program - Laboratory Services latest standards, as specified in ISO 15189:2003, the new rigorous process established in May 2003 as part of the Medical Laboratories Particular Requirements for Quality and Competence.
"We are please with the results, obviously," said Ms. Boyd. "But they were not entirely unexpected due to the caliber of our staff and the quality of our laboratory facilities."
Accreditation assessments are carried out by teams of experts including physicians, medical laboratory technologists, pharmacists and other medical professionals.
"This accreditation award speaks volumes about our laboratory program at the hospital, and we thank the staff for the hard work and dedication they put in to making this happen, in this new health care environment," said Colin Goodfellow, Chief Executive Officer of Kemptville District Hospital.
