Located in the municipality of North Grenville, Kemptville is a vibrant, fast-growing community. Kemptville District Hospital is a 40-bed health care facility serving residents in North Grenville and South Ottawa. KDH is accredited with national exemplary standing and offers an array of services, including 24-hour emergency care, advanced orthopaedic surgery, in-hospital care, on-site diagnostic imaging facility, and a wide variety of medical and surgical specialists’ clinics. KDH is currently engaged in developing an Ontario Health Team (OHT).

The Board of Directors at Kemptville District Hospital is seeking an innovative physician leader who will bring strong interpersonal skills and a consensus-building leadership style in his/her interaction with both the KDH’s current medical staff and the Board and administration.  A respected clinician leader, the Chief of Staff will have strong organizational and administrative skills and will help to implement KDH’s strategic vision and mission.  A systems thinker, the successful candidate will understand the importance of embracing partnership and collaboration at the local and regional levels.

The Chief of Staff is accountable to the Board of Directors of KDH for the leadership of the medical staff to ensure that the quality of the medical care given to patients of the Hospital is in accordance with the legislative and regulatory requirements, KDH’s mission, vision and values and policies established by the Board of Directors.   To be successful, the Chief of Staff works closely with KDH’s Chief Executive Officer and senior management.  As the ideal candidate, the Chief of Staff must be able to build and maintain relationships based on trust, respect, and transparency, and be seen by his/her peers as an effective and collaborative leader and a champion of high quality, patient-centred care.

To be eligible, you must be currently registered and licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Experience working in a rural community setting and/or as Chief of a department or similar would be an asset, as would additional education and/or leadership training.  This position is part-time, based on an average of 25 to 30 hours per month, starting July 1, 2021.  Applications should include a salary range expectation, and will be received until the closing date of March 31, 2021.  For more information, or to submit your application in confidence, please contact:
