KEMPTVILLE, ONTARIO, November 6, 2026 – Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) is pleased to announce a significant contribution from the KDH Auxiliary.

On Friday, November 6, 2026, volunteer members of the Auxiliary presented a cheque for $207,886 to KDH.

The funds represent the proceeds from the Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts in 2025 and 2026, including Hey Day and other events, along with proceeds from the Gift Shop & Coffee Bar onsite at KDH. The Auxiliary raised $104,826 for the hospital in 2025, and $103,060 in 2026!

“I’m amazed by our Auxiliary, and everything they do to support our hospital,” said Frank Vassallo, KDH President and CEO. “Our volunteer Auxiliary members put a tremendous amount of work into fundraising efforts that directly benefits patient care.”

The KDH Auxiliary was founded in 1959 during the planning phase for the hospital, which opened its doors the following year in June of 1960. The Auxiliary is run entirely by volunteers, who operate the Gift Shop & Coffee Bar, organize fundraising events, provide bursaries for high school students, and make palliative care gowns and comfort dolls for patients.

“A heartful thank you to our wonderful Auxiliary, and everyone who made this incredible contribution possible, including the people who support Hey Day each year by volunteering, donating and shopping,” said Vassallo.

“We’re deeply grateful to our community for their generosity and unwavering support of our fundraising efforts,” said Teresa Harrison, KDH Auxiliary co-president. “This significant contribution is a testament to the power of community and the meaningful difference we can make when we come together in support of local health care.”

“We’re proud to continue the Auxiliary’s longstanding tradition of supporting the hospital by raising funds to purchase essential medical equipment that strengthens patient safety and enhances the quality of care available to our community,” said Rosemary Bennett, KDH Auxiliary co-president.

The KDH Auxiliary is looking for new members to help with fundraising efforts for the hospital. If you’re interested in joining the Auxiliary, contact kdh_volunteer@kdh.on.ca
