KDH is seeking Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians on a casual and temporary part-time basis. Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians at KDH are responsible for correct packaging and autoclaving of sterile supplies throughout the hospital, performing clean-up duties and reprocessing of specialty equipment in the OR/RR/ER/M&S areas, and restocking of clinic rooms for Ambulatory Care.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will share the KDH commitment to Patient and Family Centred Care and possess the following qualifications and related experience:

  • Grade 12;
  • Central Service of Ontario Medical Device Reprocessing Techniques Certificate or equivalent with recertification every 5 years;
  • Current CSAO membership;
  • Working knowledge of autoclave, suction equipment, flash sterilizer, quality assurance equipment, and endoscopy instrumentation and reprocessing.

  • Recent ER experience (3-5 years);
  • Coronary Care course/ECG interpretation skills;
  • CTAS training;
  • Experience in initiation of IVs and administration of life-saving medications;
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly identifying priorities and complex patient care needs;
  • Basic computer skills;

  • Experience in non-invasive ventilation (eg. BiPap);
  • Experience in the initiation of IVs and administration of life saving medications;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Excellent Communications skills (verbal & written);
  • Current TNCC certificate (preferred);
  • Emergency or Critical Care Nursing certificate (preferred);
  • Recent Critical Care or ER experience (3-5 years preferred);

Shifts:  Rotation – days, evenings, nights and weekends; 8 and 12 hour shifts

KDH is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic with an Ontario 4th Class Operating Engineer’s Certificate to join the team on a casual basis.

The successful candidate will share the KDH commitment to Patient and Family Centred Care and possess the following qualifications and related experience.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Secondary School diploma (required);
  • Minimum of Ontario 4th Class Operating Engineer’s Certificate, in accordance with the TSSA and Ontario Operating Engineers Act;
  • Knowledge of building and plumbing codes as well as the ability to read and understand construction documents/shop drawings/single line diagrams;
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, and in several fields, such as mechanical, plumbing, low voltage and arc flash electrical, carpentry and pipe-fitting;
  • Ability to meet the high physical demands of the job (i.e., repetitive lifting and bending);
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Starting Wage:  $28.91/hour

  • Current BCLS & ACLS Certificates;
  • Operating Room Certificate (mandatory);
  • Recent Operating Room Experience (required, 3-5 years);
  • Experience with total joint replacement, arthroscopic surgeries;
  • Critical Care Course(s) or Recovery Room education (preferred);
  • Critical Care Experience (PACU, ICU) (3-5 years preferred);
  • Endoscopy experience (an asset);
  • Current membership in a professional association (preferred).

Starting Wage:  $32.66/hour or past experience recognition as per Article 19.05 of the ONA Central Agreement. Note that if there are any discrepancies between the posted starting wage and the Agreement, the Agreement wage will prevail.
