Annual Kemptville District Hospital Memorial Service to honour patients who passed away

KEMPTVILLE, ON, April 21, 2026 – Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) is hosting its annual Memorial Service to honour patients who have passed away at the hospital.

Every spring, family members and friends are invited to gather for the Memorial Service to honour their loved one, and to hear a message of hope and encouragement for those who are left to mourn. This year’s Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 2pm, at North Grenville Community Church (2659 Concession Road, Kemptville), located next door to KDH.

Family members, friends, and loved ones of people who passed away at KDH in 2025 are invited to attend the service on May 14, 2026. Attendees are welcome to bring a framed photo of their loved one, which will be returned to their owners after the Memorial Service.

The Memorial Service is a collaboration between KDH, the KDHA Pastoral Care Committee, and Beth Donovan Hospice.

The Pastoral Care Committee is a subgroup of the KDH Auxiliary and all of its members are volunteers. The Committee is interdenominational, offering support to any and all denominations.

“The Pastoral Care Committee recognizes the importance of providing families, friends, and loved ones with an opportunity to come together and remember the people they’ve lost,” said Samer Kandalaft, Chair of the KDHA Pastoral Care Committee. “Inviting and including them in the service demonstrates to family and friends that they are valued by the hospital, as much as their loved one was while a patient.”

“The Memorial Service is an important tradition for KDH,” said the hospital’s President and CEO, Frank J. Vassallo. “It’s an opportunity for us to honour the people we cared for during their final days, and for us to say, ‘We are grateful for the opportunity to have cared for your loved one, who was valued and not forgotten.’”
