Kemptville District Hospital Auxiliary invites you to celebrate 65th anniversary of Hey Day
KEMPTVILLE, ON, May 5, 2026 – The Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Auxiliary is pleased to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Hey Day, which was first held in June of 1961. The major fundraising event is set for June 5th and 6th at the North Grenville Municipal Centre arena (285 County Road 44, Kemptville).
Hey Day is the longest-standing tradition in Kemptville, and one of the largest indoor garage sales in eastern Ontario. Hey Day is run entirely by volunteers and supported through community donations, with all proceeds going directly to KDH.
Hey Day features a wide variety of items, including clothing, linens, books, toys, sports equipment, electronics, housewares, décor, plants, baked goods, jewellery, furniture and more!
The Auxiliary is looking for volunteers to help sort donations and set up for the sale. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the Auxiliary by emailing: kdha.heyday@gmail.com
Donations can be dropped off at the municipal centre on Wednesday, June 3, from 11am to 7pm, and sorting will take place the following day, on Thursday, June 4.
The Auxiliary is expanding the hours for Hey Day this year, to reduce wait times for entry and increase sales. Hey Day will open at 4pm on Friday, June 5, and runs until 9pm, and again on Saturday, June 6, from 9am to 1pm. The Auxiliary is also selling 50/50 tickets at Hey Day; don’t miss your chance because they sell fast!
“Hey Day is such a wonderful community event that brings people together in support of our hospital,” said Sandi Kelly, Hey Day Convenor. “It’s heartwarming to see such comradery and teamwork amongst our incredible volunteers, and how excited people are for Hey Day each year. The bustle and buzz of Hey Day is not something you want to miss!”
The Auxiliary is once again doing a VIP Contest to win 4 passes to be first in line at Hey Day on Friday, June 5. The winner will also get a $20 coupon to Lil’s Café for some refreshments, and a runner-up prize for a $10 coupon is up for grabs.
The VIP Contest is online, through the ‘Kemptville Hospital Auxiliary KDHA’ Facebook page, along with the KDH Auxiliary Instagram account. Participants will be asked to ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the post featuring the VIP contest, and ‘Follow’ the Auxiliary on Facebook / Instagram to be entered into the random draw. The contest starts on May 27 and ends on June 3, so watch the Auxiliary’s Facebook page and Instagram account for more details.
“We think it’s a fun way to spread the word about Hey Day,” said Kelly. “Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for the hospital, so please come out and support this wonderful event!”
