Dr. Nadine Kaefer

Chief, Department of Family Medicine

Dr. Nadine Kaefer was born in British Columbia and raised in Metcalfe, Ontario.

Before medicine, she completed a Master’s degree in Medical Microbiology at the University of Manitoba. She completed medical school at the University of Manitoba and her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Kaefer’s additional training includes Advanced Trauma Life Support, Ultrasound in Shock, Trauma, and Resuscitation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation.

Dr. Kaefer is certified with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Canadian College of Family Physicians, and the Medical Council of Canada.

During her medical training, Dr. Kaefer took an active leadership role, representing her peers and organizing events and training. Her interest in research led to her involvement in a number of research projects throughout her studies; associated publications and presentations focused on genetics topics. Dr. Kaefer received a number of awards in recognition of academic achievement, including a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Graduate Student Award.

Dr. Kaefer has worked in many rural communities in Ontario, Manitoba, and Nunavut, and is firmly devoted to rural medicine. She has practiced medicine in Kemptville at Rideau Crossing Family Health Centre since 2017, starting at KDH as hospitalist the same year. She became KDH’s Chief of Family Medicine in March, 2022.
