Ms. Margaret Harrison
Margaret Harrison, RN, Professor Emerita, Queen’s University, developed and was director of a nationally funded centre dedicated to amalgamating evidence for quality and risk reduction in health care.
Her work crosses hospital, community, and transitional care. She led a health services research program focused on continuity-of-care and implementation of best practices for complex populations (e.g., heart failure, chronic wounds, cancer). She is a founding member on several international groups concentrated on best practices. Before joining Queen’s faculty in 2000, Ms. Harrison was Director of Professional Development and Research at CHEO and Nurse Specialist Research and Evaluation at The Ottawa Hospital. She has a B.N. from Dalhousie University, Master of Health Administration from University of Ottawa, and PhD (Health Sciences, Nursing) from McMaster University. She currently serves on the International Joanna Briggs Institute Board and served previously on the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario Board. Given the KDH model and philosophy, and her own deep commitment to community-based care and best practices, she is keen to contribute to the KDH Board.
